Shaxpir Feature Ideas
-
I’d like to be able to use it in my phone. I have it in my laptop and absolutely love it.
I love Shaxpir on my laptop, but sometimes I get ideas whenever I’m out and about. It would be good to be able to use the phone to write.

Ability to link NaNoWriMo API Key
This would automatically track how many words you've written/still need to write to hit your daily goal during NanoWriMo as well as update your progress on the NanoWriMo site for you.

Book Status
I would love to be able to add a "status" to my books and projects. I have some works that are now complete and published and I'd like to archive them so they're not in with works in progress.

You should pivot, be the Frame.io, Figma, Framer, etc. of writing tools.
You could do it... I'd help you if you want.
I'm also a web developer, heavy front-end, UX dev, etc.I think you could benefit from an overhaul with focused UX and focus on collaboration phases that real indie authors really need. A bigger focus on external integrations needs implemented as well.
Exporting needs to be a huge focus as well.

export
Why are the export lacking so much? I mean, I get we need to try to keep it as simple as possible... but... so much post editing would be required by your tool that it makes it virtually unusable?
I think indie-authors will just publish a ton of books with Red Chapter headings because they aren't going to pay a formatter / type-setter to do this stuff.
I'm guessing this tool is expecting its authors to find a formatter / type-setter to clean it all up... or?
There are like zero tools that make compiling / formatting dead simple... would…

Word count
It would be useful to see the word count total so far. For example, if I'm on chapter six and click on chapter 3, it would tell me 15,000/30,000 words.

Ability to duplicate parts (Ex. Folders, Characters, Places, Notes)
If using a general template for organizing ideas within parts, it would help to duplicate an empty template so you don't need to create the same parts and copy-paste the content every single time, especially if you have a large folder of empty templates.

Outline
Would be great to be able to paste in an outline for each chapter beneath the photos in the side panel. It would allow the writer to reference their outline while writing.

Ability to work well with NON-fiction manuscripts
Your software looks wonderful! I would like to see added capabilities to work with non-fiction manuscripts.
Thank you very much for your kindest consideration of my suggestion.

Total word count per part.
I would like to be able to click on a Part and see the total word count of chapters within that Part, rather than having to add it up manually.

UK English as a language option. The spell check keeps highlighting the UK spelling of words. (EG. Colour/color.)
Add different language options on the spellcheck so I don't have a ton of highlighted errors that aren't actually errors.

keyboard shortcuts
keyboard shortcuts for standard operations like creating a new document are very important. Quite apart from assuaging the demands of old keyboard warriors like me, it's much more accessible than mouse navigation.

Word frequency analyser
This would help writers not repeat pet phrases too much.

Disabling Sync
It would be great to be able to use this product in offline mode exclusively, for those users who don't want any of their writing on your servers.

The new - soon to be - grand speed master of the universe - namely, Google OS on the web.
Hey Jason!
Thanks for getting in touch and congrats on your new Pixelbook :)
Unfortunately, Shaxpir is only available as a desktop application right now, for Macintosh and Windows, so it's not going to work on Chrome OS. In the long run, we do have plans to make Shaxpir available on the web, but it'll be a while still before it's ready.
Sorry to disappoint!
Benji
Dear Benji Smith,
If you do make Shaxpir available on the web you would open the door to over six million Chromebook users who would pay an arm and a leg to gain access…

HOME screen statistics gone?
I always liked the statistics (how much words you wrote at what pace in such and such a time span) on the HOME screen but as of today 05/10/18 it's gone. Is the feature still available for the free version?

Custom Themes
Please give us the ability to create our own themes. Additionally, being able to share and download other's themes would be great. At present, none of the prepackaged themes are very conducive to writing for me- they don't really follow any "good for reading" or "good for writing" visual rules, are too bright or too stark for my eyes. I would much rather just control what's good for my eyes nyself.
